Download Tuner 2.5.3 beta

2.5.3 beta – December 20th, 2024:

SC2

  • Fixed importing additional True Drive offline profiles overwrites already imported profile
  • Fixed game effect (direct input effect) parameters not being set properly
  • Changed Settings menu to update settings immediately when they are modified.
  • Fixed Settings not being saved

ActivePedal

  • Fixed pedal sometimes not going to sleep when it should

2.5.2 beta – December 19th, 2024:

SC2

  • Fixed high torque mode not activating automatically
  • Fixed SC2 Ultimate static force reduction speed parameter
  • Improved naming of checkbox that enabled combining accessory port and wireless wheel paddle inputs
  • TrueDrive profiles are now also searched from “OneDrive/Documents/Simucube 2” directory

ActivePedal

  • Fixed ActivePedal physical adjustment saving
  • If pedal rest position wasn’t saved by Tuner 2.5.1, reconfiguring the rest position is automatically requested

2.5.1 beta – December 18th, 2024:

SC2

  • Fixed multiple different cases where SC2 parameters were either set incorrectly or were not set at all leading to incorrect feeling
  • Fixed some SC2 profile sliders having different min and max values unintentionally
  • Fixed Tuner stating that “SC2 was detected” during first start up even when SC2 was not connected
  • Fixed profile sometimes being incorrectly initialized as Quick Try profile and not autosaved correctly

ActivePedal

  • Fixed ActivePedal rest position resetting back to ~22mm when Tuner is restarted, but caused a new issue:
Rest position is incorrect until it is reconfigured from configure view (top left hamburger menu), after configuring that, Tuner must be restarted to fix incorrect movement length

Other

  • Fixed shortcut creation functionality including profiles for devices that were not currently connected

Understanding the Open Beta

Our engineers are eager to collect as much feedback as possible to improve the official release of Tuner 2.5

The Open Beta of Tuner 2.5 is for Simucube 2, ActivePedal, and Valo steering wheel owners who want to experience new features as early as possible and want to affect the end product.

Tuner 2.5 is estimated to officially release during Q1 2025, after our engineers feel ready with it.

Updated Dec 20th, 2024:

Simucube 2 support and features:

  • Simucube 2 wireless wheel analog channel deadzone settings / calibration does not work. It does not work in latest True Drive either.
  • High Torque Mode button is not very clear about whether the mode is active or not.
  • Tuner wont detect SC2 automatically if SC2 is not connected and powered on when Tuner is started. So if Tuner is first started and then SC2 is connected, Tuner wont see it and wont ask about activating SC2 support.

This can be resolved by either restarting Tuner (so that SC2 is connected when it starts). This requires fully closing Tuner by using the tray icon.
Or going to settings by clicking gear icon in bottom left corner and enabling SC2 support manually

Paddock:

  • It is not possible to publish or edit profiles – buttons are missing. This is as designed. Full Paddock functions will be coming in a new Paddock implementation in 2025.

Profile management

  • Importing Simucube 2 Paddock profiles is via the profile menu button on the top right in the Simucube 2 view, but importing offline profiles is via the settings menu on the top left of the Simucube 2 view.

For the first time, Simucube 2 users can get their wheelbases under the same software as the other Simucube products.

As a Simucube 2 user you get to leave valuable feedback that will affect the initial software release, ensuring a working software environment for all Simucube devices.

Simucube 2 users are not forced to switch to Tuner, and True Drive will continue to be receiving bug fixes until further notice. However, our new developments such as automatic profile switching are done only on the Tuner software and the eventual goal is that the Tuner will be the best all-in-one software experience for all Simucube users.

Simucube API has been shared with a few game developers to get the initial feedback. We expect to be able to proceed with discussions and wider adoption in early 2025. API is expected to improve effect support in several simulator titles such as iRacing.

Installing & uninstalling

Going back to old Tuner version:

Download the previous release again and install it. Previous releases can be downloaded from https://docs.simucube.com/Tuner/Changelog.html

Going back to using True Drive:

Go to Tuner 2.5 beta settings and disable Simucube 2 support. Start True Drive.

Yes you can. The first startup of Tuner 2.5 beta will ask you, do you want to use Simucube 2 wheelbase with Tuner. After this True Drive cannot be started. Later you can go to Tuner settings and disable Simucube 2 support again, and go back to using True Drive.

Firmware updates might be required when changing. At a later stage we might publish True Drive release with the same firmware as Tuner 2.5, so that it isn’t required.

Using profiles

Offline profile import is currently a little hidden:

  1. Open Simucube 2 profile view
  2. Click hamburger menu button (top left corner)
  3. Choose "Settings"
  4. Choose "Import True Drive Profile"
  1. Open Simucube 2 profile view
  2. Click on the helmet icon in the top right corner of the software
  3. Click on the “Paddock” button under the “Discard changes.”
  4. Quick Try profile (temporary, unless saved), or login and activate your own profile which will be imported.

Previously, Tuner stored all settings for each device into a single profile. Changing the profile changed the settings of all devices. Now in Tuner 2.5, each device has a separate profile and changing profile for one device will only affect that device.

We considered how profiles are used and realized that using a single profile for all devices, is not optimal solution anymore when there are multiple types of devices.

    • Simucube 2 profile is usually changed based on the simulator and more rarely based on the car.
    • Pedal profiles can instead work across different simulators.

If settings for all devices are in a single profile file, then you may easily end up with lot of profiles that are mostly the same but just one device profile is changed and profiles become unmanageable. We feel that one profile per device will become a much better approach especially once the automatic profile switching feature arrives.

Your current profiles will be migrated to the new format and profiles containing profile data for multiple devices (Eg. ActivePedal throttle and brake) will become multiple separate profiles with the same name and other metadata. Your old profile files will not be removed and if you move back to using the previous Tuner version, the profile will be exactly how you left them. Any changes made in Tuner 2.5 will not affect the profiles used by earlier versions.

In overview under the menu button, you will find a “Create shortcut for profiles” option, which will create a file that has similar functionality. Early 2025 we will implement automatic profile switching which will further improve profile handling.

Feedback & getting help

Join Simucube Discord where you can ask the community questions and talk with our software developers.

We hope to receive the official feedback through this form. Additionally, feedback can be left to our Tuner testing Discord channel. Simucube will also collect feedback during Sim Formula Europe 2025 in January in Maastricht, where a dedicated rig for software testing is available.

The feedback collected will be used to improve the Tuner 2.5 software features and fine-tune the software to work as well as possible after the official release. Simucube wants to include community members in product and software development to ensure the best possible experience for all Simucube users

Join Simucube Discord and #tuner-testing channel to talk with us and other beta users directly. Be aware that the Simucube team will be taking a break over the holidays.
