Simucube Culture: Anonymous Recruitment
What is anonymous recruitment?
At Simucube, anonymous recruitment means that all applications are reviewed without visibility of personal information such as name, email, or photo. The recruitment system automatically masks these details from both the application form and CV. Applications are evaluated based on the remaining information provided, with the most qualified candidates for the role selected for the interview process. Once a candidate progresses to the next stage, their personal details are revealed. While the automation system is still not perfect, we are continually working to improve our processes.
Why anonymous recruitment matters?
At Simucube, we have used anonymous recruitment as part of the recruitment process for over a year, and here’s why we consider it to matter:
- Diverse teams perform better. Research shows that teams with different perspectives and backgrounds are more creative, effective, and better at problem-solving.
- Bias is real. Despite our best efforts to be objective, everyone has unconscious biases that can influence decision-making. By anonymizing applications, we ensure our focus remains on skills and experience.
- Fair chances for everyone: We believe in equal opportunities for all, regardless of background, appearance, or identity. It’s about leveling the playing field for everyone.
Recruitment criteria and job descriptions are not set in stone – they are created by people, and naturally, people tend to look for qualities they’re already familiar with. By anonymizing applications, we push ourselves to look beyond the usual and identify talent that might otherwise be overlooked. Candidates have shared positive feedback about the anonymous recruitment method.
“Anonymous recruitment is a forward-thinking approach that holds great promise for improving fairness in hiring. For me, it simplified the application process by removing the anxiety over whether my name might lead to assumptions about my background or result in an early rejection due to perceived limitations. It allowed the focus to stay on my skills and experience, which made showcasing them more straightforward,” explains Alen Plehandzic, UI/UX Designer at Simucube. “Once I was contacted based on my skills and experience, that’s where the journey began.”
The effectiveness of the anonymous recruitment approach depends on a workplace culture that supports true inclusion. Learn more about anonymous recruitment and Simucube’s culture in our podcast with Tiina Knight, People & Culture Manager, and in the following blog post about equal opportunities at Simucube.
Through anonymous recruitment, Simucube is creating a hiring process that is fair, inclusive, and focused on true potential. Leading by example and celebrating diverse perspectives are key drivers of meaningful innovation. The aim is to remain a human-centric workplace where every team member contributes to shaping the future at Simucube.
