Traxion x Simucube: How James Baldwin uses Simucube equipment to train for motorsport success
In collaboration with Traxion, we explore how James Baldwin, real-world racing winner and multiple sim racing champion, relies on Simucube technology to stay prepared for top-level motorsport. James Baldwin is living proof that skills developed in sim racing can be carried directly onto the real-world track.
After securing victories in the Le Mans Virtual Series, the eRace of Champions and earning a gold medal at the FIA Motorsport Games, James Baldwin advanced into professional racing, competing at events such as the 24 Hours of Spa and achieving a class podium in GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup. Although he is not currently competing full-time in esports, he continues to train intensely at home using Simucube 2 Ultimate and ActivePedal Pro to remain ready for any race call-up.
Precision training through realistic feedback
James Baldwin’s training is rooted in authenticity and muscle memory. “For Nürburgring earlier this season in GT World Challenge, I used the Simucube ActivePedal Pro to prepare for driving the McLaren 720 GT3 Evo in the real world again,” he explains.
“Using the memory I had from competing last year, I tuned them to feel like that just in case I got a call-up this season, helping me get back into the flow of what the real pedals feel like.”
By matching throttle response, brake stiffness and pedal travel, he ensures the transition from his racing simulator to the real-world car feels seamless, strengthening confidence with every session.
A partnership built on progress
James Baldwin’s relationship with Simucube began five years ago, progressing from Simucube 2 Sport to Ultimate before introducing ActivePedal into his setup. Reflecting on his evolution, he recalls, “I remember going from entry-level equipment to Simucube 2 Sport, it was a big step up in detail. Then from Sport to Ultimate, there was even more,” emphasising how feedback clarity has become essential to his performance.
Now collaborating with Simucube not only as an ambassador but as a development partner, he shares ongoing insights that help shape future innovations. His experience reinforces our commitment to building equipment that is created to perform at the highest level and made to last.
