Sustainability Efforts: Key Highlights 2024
At Simucube, we are committed to the continuous improvement of our operations with sustainability in mind. Sustainability means meeting today’s needs without harming the future. It supports long-term progress while protecting resources for future generations. At Simucube, a cross-functional team coordinates our sustainability actions, while the company steering group oversees our sustainability goals. In 2024, we focused on increasing understanding of the current situation and laying the foundations for our work based on the three pillars of sustainability — Environment, Social and Economic. These pillars were first introduced by United Nations in 2004.

Environmental sustainability
For sim racing devices, the biggest environmental impacts come from manufacturing the devices and from shipping parts and final products. During 2024 at Simucube, we focused on understanding the current situation and setting goals for inbound logistics. While Simucube products are assembled in Estonia, Europe, certain components are sourced from China. This is primarily due to the manufacturing industry’s transition to China over the past decades.
The following video demonstrates how Simucube products are manufactured.
To better understand the environmental impact of inbound transportation at Simucube, we calculated the average CO₂ emissions per kilogram of goods transported based on our logistics data. The results showed a significant difference: sea freight generates approximately 0.14 kg of CO₂ per kilogram, whereas air freight produces around 5.82 kg. This means air transport emits about 42 times more CO₂ for the same cargo weight. Although it takes longer, careful planning allows us to stay efficient while cutting emissions significantly.

We also wanted to understand and educate the whole company about the environmental impact of aluminium. Aluminium is the main material of Simucube products due to its sustainability and performance advantages — it’s lightweight, strong, and resistant to corrosion, which extends products’ lifespan. It’s 100% recyclable at the end of the product’s lifecycle, and offers safe, non-toxic, and customizable design options. Despite these benefits, we also recognize that aUnderstanding this significant environmental impact helps us actively track related metrics and pursue further emission reductions, process optimization, and waste minimization to support our sustainability objectives.
Social sustainability
In 2024, we at Simucube had a notable year in social sustainability, as we were awarded the “HumanPower24” title for the most human-centric workplace in Finland among companies with fewer than 250 employees. One of the key reasons we were recognized is our strong workplace culture, where we frequently engage in meaningful interactions and feel a strong connection with each other.
“Social impact starts with our people” says Tiina Knight, Head of People & Culture at Simucube. “We’re committed to actively improving by addressing challenges and building a workplace where people and growth go hand in hand.”
Social sustainability topics we have worked on in 2024 include implementing an anonymous recruitment process and promoting equal opportunities, fairness, objectivity, and diversity within our team. By anonymizing applications, we want to overcome any unconscious biases in recruitment and identify talent that might otherwise be overlooked. We are continually working to improve this process.
In the 2024 strategic year, we hired 13 new employees, and candidate feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Our team became more diverse across gender, age, and background. By the end of March 2025, the share of international employees had risen to 11%. These international team members are currently contributing to our R&D and Commercial departments.

On average, women represent about one-third of the workforce in technology-related fields (“Women In Tech Report 2024,” Skillsoft). At Simucube, we have 20% female employees, which shows there is still room for improvement in this area. We keep track of diversity metrics for job applicants and monitor what percentage of diverse candidates move through the recruitment pipeline. We aim to keep getting better by solving problems and making Simucube a place where people and the company grow together.
Economic sustainability
At Simucube, economic sustainability means achieving long-term profitability and growth while acting responsibly towards people, society, and the environment. We are committed to building a resilient and competitive business that delivers consistent financial performance, creates value for stakeholders, and contributes positively to the economy.
As part of our ongoing efforts toward sustainability throughout the value chain, we at Simucube formulated and released our Code of Conduct in 2024, outlining the key values we uphold. This code communicates our standards, emphasizing responsible decision-making, accountability, and ethical business practices.
The code of conduct aims to foster a trustworthy and respectful workplace and establish strong, transparent partnerships. After its release, we reached out to key suppliers to ensure they align with these same values and standards. The Code of Conduct is publicly available on our website.
We pay all corporate income taxes in Finland, where our headquarters is located. Additionally, we meet our VAT and sales tax obligations in every country where we operate, in accordance with applicable local laws and international tax regulations.
We at Simucube aim to remain proactive in responding to tax requirements. As part of being an economically sustainable company, we continuously evaluate and develop our accounting systems in collaboration with specialists to ensure compliance with evolving regulations.
What’s next?
Moving forward, we will continue with our sustainability efforts. Sustainability initiatives for 2025 include, for example, promotion of refurbished products in order to give products a second life, and efforts that help enhance recycling. The plan includes efforts for optimizing sea freight, improving recruitment process further to promote greater diversity within the Simucube team, and increasing internal transparency to advance trust and the overall employee experience. By aligning economic goals with sustainability principles, we strive to ensure the long-term viability of our business while supporting the transition toward a more sustainable global economy.
