Traxion x Simucube: Simucube 3 starting a new generation

Simucube 3 wheelbase

The Simucube 2 became a benchmark after its 2019 launch, so replacing it wasn’t a rushed decision. As Simucube explains to Traxion, the goal with Simucube 3 was about reliability, ease-of-use and fidelity, built around a simple vision: sit down and start driving.

Simucube 3 arrived as three models: Sport, and Pro brought to the market in 2025, and the Ultimate coming in 2026. Alongside the new wheel base, the wider rollout includes new Simucube Link wheels, Tuner 3.0, and the debut of Simucube LightBridge.

Simucube LightBridge technology

LightBridge is Simucube’s new system for sending power and data wirelessly between the base and wheel using magnetic induction and infrared communication.

The motivation is to reduce reliance on USB, which Simucube describes as a common source of reliability issues, especially in turnkey rigs and high-end setups. The ecosystem is intended to expand too, with third-party manufacturers already developing LightBridge-compatible wheels, and Simucube stating it’s not a closed system.

Use Simucube 3 with multiple wheels

For those with existing wheels, Simucube 3 still supports them via a quick-release adaptor and connecting the wheel’s USB to the PC, with Simucube also hinting it’s looking at options for people with large wheel collections.

The beginning of a new generation

Under the hood, the development team highlights a major change: the Simucube 3’s control algorithm is completely rebuilt, sharing “not a single line of code” with Simucube 2.

Add revised motors across the range, including an all-new motor design for the Ultimate, and Traxion’s conclusion is clear: Simucube 3 marks the beginning of a new generation.
