Great wheelbases, both of them. But 99 is not 100. That last 1% \u2014 that&#8217;s who <a href=\"https:\/\/simucube.com\/en-gb\/simucube-3-ultimate\/\">Ultimate<\/a> is for.<\/h3>\n<p>These are the drivers who notice the things others don&#8217;t. Not because they&#8217;re looking for them, but because they can feel them. The moment a front tyre starts to take load entering a corner. Not a slide. Not a clear grip loss. That tiny, fleeting moment just before. The one that tells you everything about how the car will rotate and how aggressive you can be on that entry.<\/p>\n<p>For those drivers, force feedback needs to be absolutely perfect. And building something absolutely perfect turns out to be quite a journey.<\/p>\n<h2>Everything starts from the motor<\/h2>\n<p>Traditionally our wheelbases use SPM type electric motors. For Ultimate, we didn&#8217;t take the easy route. We chose a spoke-type IPM, Interior Permanent Magnet, motor architecture. The kind of motor used in high-performance EV drivetrains, now engineered specifically for sim racing.<\/p>\n<p>The magnetic field in a spoke-type IPM is concentrated more densely than in an SPM. The result is higher torque density, faster electrical response, and lower power consumption at the same output. On paper, it&#8217;s clearly the right choice. In practice, it is one of the most difficult motors in the world to manufacture to our standards.<\/p>\n<p>We are talking thousandths of an inch in tolerance. To actually achieve that, we built a completely temperature-controlled environment for motor assembly \u2014 no fluctuations, no variables, no compromises. After assembly, every motor goes through a testing phase measuring all key parameters, including cogging and friction. The passing criteria ensure that every motor that ships is among the best of its type in the world.<\/p>\n<p>35 Nm. The highest in the Simucube line.<\/p>\n<h2>An algorithm that knows your specific wheelbase<\/h2>\n<p>Having the right motor is only the beginning. You also need a way to control it.<\/p>\n<p>For Simucube 3, we developed a new type of algorithm: digital twin-based motor control. For Ultimate, we took that concept roughly six times further.<\/p>\n<p>During manufacturing, we collect thousands of data points from each individual unit. From that data, we build a complete digital representation of that specific wheelbase inside the control algorithm. The physical motor then follows its digital twin. In effect, the algorithm is always controlling an ideal motor with every real-world imperfection of that specific unit already accounted for.<\/p>\n<p>Every SC3 Ultimate is unique in calibration. Every SC3 Ultimate feels the same across the line.<\/p>\n<p>What this makes possible is something that genuinely surprised us during development: a wheelbase that is snappy and smooth at the same time. Those two qualities usually fight each other. Here, they don&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<h2>LightBridge \u2014 contactless transmission of both data and power<\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The third piece of the puzzle is how the wheelbase communicates with the wheel. It starts with the <a href=\"https:\/\/simucube.com\/en-gb\/link-quick-release-for-simucube-3\/\">Link Quick Release<\/a> \u2014 a P3G polygon shape with self-centering geometry and large contact surfaces that distribute torque evenly. No flex, no play, no compromise on feel.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:0,&quot;335551620&quot;:0}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Inside it lives LightBridge. This is where the technology gets interesting.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:0,&quot;335551620&quot;:0}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">An array of infrared LEDs pulsates millions of times per second, sending and receiving data between the static and rotating parts, in both directions. Power transfers through induction. No cables. No slip rings. Nothing to degrade over time, nothing to replace.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:0,&quot;335551620&quot;:0}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The quick release is the physical connection.
